Children in 5th class have been learning lots about the Great Irish famine in the 1800’s. Over the last few weeks we took part in role plays, wrote diary accounts, explored websites and studied photos based on this topic. We finished the unit with a craft based project where workhouses, famine cottages and coffin ships were created from clay and other materials. It really was such an interesting and enjoyable experience.
