November 13th 2012

Parents,

A few things I’d like to bring to your attention:

  • I would encourage everyone to support the upcoming Christmas Bazaar on Sunday 25th November. It promises to be a great social and fundraising event. Money raised will go towards IT development in the school.
  • Sincere thanks to Frank vanPelt for organising delivery of 18 laptops to the school courtesy of UCC upgrading their own IT facilities. These laptops will be invaluable going forward, especially for teaching keyboard skills.
  • Third Class will be taking part in a Gaelic Football Blitz, the girls on Friday and the boys on next Monday. More details to follow from the Class Teacher.
  • Well done and best wishes to Killian O’Sullivan (4th Class) who will play on the Thomond Park pitch at half-time in the Ireland v Fiji rugby game this Saturday, representing Crosshaven Rugby Club.
  • School closes early on this Thursday (as indicated on our previous newsletter) to facilitate a Staff Meeting. Junior and Senior Infants finish school at 12.30 pm (incl.siblings) and 12.45 pm for the rest of the school.
  • School will close at the same times (12.30/12.45) for the Parent/Teacher meetings which are currently being scheduled and will take place on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th next. Times and dates to be communicated by the class teachers.
  • Our Cake Sale was a tremendous success and as always brilliantly supported by the school community. Well done to all who took part in the Quiz Night last Friday. It was great fun. Thanks also to the excellent quizmaster, Paddy Clifford, who devised some great questions. These two events combined are a vital source of funds for the school.
  • A reminder if you have any school payments outstanding to drop them in as soon as possible, French for 5th and 6th classes and the €50 voluntary family contribution. We greatly appreciate all those who have been able to contribute to date.
  • Best of luck to the guitar students who start guitar lessons today with Kieran Curtin. Learning a musical instrument is very satisfying and will stand to children in the future.
  • I would encourage all our students to support our local club, Shamrocks, in their 5km Walk fundraising event which takes place this coming Saturday at 12 noon. See notices around the school for further details.

Yours sincerely,

David Nolan
