Anti-Bullying Policy
Following our comprehensive staff meeting last week, I wish to advise you that a draft of our revised Anti-Bulling Policy will be on our school website www.shanballyns.ie from Friday. You might like to take the opportunity to read it over Easter and I welcome any feedback before I submit this draft to the Board of Management for official ratification.
Friday April 11th
A reminder that as per tradition at Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays and as indicated on our most recent update of April 1st, school will close this Friday at 12.30 and 12.45.
PA Raffle
PA Raffle Tickets are still on sale up to and including Friday. There are many prizes including a giant chocolate Easter Bunny to be won. Good luck to all.
Liam Middleton Easter Egg Appeal
I wish to sincerely acknowledge the wonderful generosity shown by everyone in response to this appeal. Shanbally NS can be very proud of our donations to such worthy causes and this is no exception. Michael has collected a large number from us already to distribute to Crumlin Children’s Hospital, CUH, Mercy, Bons, Cope Foundation, Deaf Association, Sonas School, Enable Ireland and Temple Street Hospital. Eggs can be dropped into the school up to and including Friday morning.
Thanks to 5th and 6th classes
I have stated on a number of occasions how proud I am to be Principal of such a great school with fantastic pupils. This spirit/attitude is again reflected in our 5th & 6 class pupils who have decided to donate some of their Confirmation money to worthy causes. We are delighted that 5th class are donating €289 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and in so doing remember Alex Caraher. 6th class are donating €250 to the Cork Penny /Dinners and Helen Hegarty will visit the school tomorrow to acknowledge this gesture. Sincere thanks to 5th and 6th children.
Safer Internet Day
Tuesday February 11th was Safer Internet Day for 2014. To mark this occasion, Mrs Tuohy organised a poster competition, asking our pupils to consider and reflect on cyber-safety. I wish to congratulate the following prize-winners on their entries.

Date for Your Diary
Sinéad and Jean in Cogan’s Garage have invited all Shanbally pupils to a Q&A session with Cork Hurler, Stephen McDonnell on Friday April 25th from 4-5pm in their showrooms in Carrigaline. All pupils are encouraged to wear their Cork colours on the day. We look forward o hearing how Stephen and his teammates are preparing for their championship game v Waterford on May 25th.
Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind
The above are holding an Easter Egg Hunt on Monday 21st April from 12 noon to 2pm at a cost of €5 per child. More details can be obtained from Anne at 1850 506 300.
Art Explorers
