Re: Shanbally National School Parents Association Spring Newsletter.
Dear Parents,
Spring is finally here; let’s hope the weather starts to reflect the season! The Parents Association are currently busily preparing for our upcoming events taking us right up to the end of June
We are hoping to raise funds for:
ñ IT Provision for Resource Rooms
ñ The 50th Anniversary Commemorative Book
ñ Publication of a Parents Information Handbook
ñ Internet Cyber Bullying Presentation
ñ Re-Investing into Book Rental Scheme
Here are some of the upcoming events planned for our children:
Wednesday 11th February: “Dowtcha” Puppet Show: Dowtcha Puppet Show is coming on Wednesday 11th to entertain our junior and senior infant classes. This event will be funded by the PA. Check out their website at www.dowtcha.com. The older classes had a visit from Westmidlands Theatre Group last year so it’s the junior classes turn now to be entertained J
Friday 14th February: We will be having our Valentine’s Day Cake sale. As usual we are hoping that the cake sale will be made possible by all of you, the fabulous bakers!! The Cakes look more fantastic each year. Cakes can be dropped into the Halla from 8.50am on the morning of the 14th. The children absolutely love this school event. We all look forward to sampling the yummy cakes!!
School Uniform Swap: Due to the unfortunate situation we find ourselves in with School Direct, we were thinking of doing a uniform swap day. Parents have expressed a need for tracksuits and school jumpers. If anyone has any items they are not using could you please drop them into the Halla?
We are currently examining all options and alternatives for the future. We will be sending a brief questionnaire home next week as instructed by Minister Ruairí Quinn.
Confirmation Tuesday 11th March: The boys and girls of 5th & 6th Classes are currently preparing with their teachers, Ms. Moran & Ms. O’ Mahony for their upcoming Confirmation. The Mass is at 10.30am on Tuesday 11th of March. The School will be closed for the day. A disco to celebrate the confirmation will be held by the PA that evening from 7pm to 9pm in Fernhill Golf & Country Club, Carrigaline. We wish all the boys and girls best wishes on their special day.
Friday 14th of March: There will be a Saint Patricks Day themed dress up day. There will be no charge for this day! The best dressed boy and the best dressed girl will get a prize so make sure to get out the green, white & gold and get creative!
Friday 11th April: This is the last day before our Easter mid-term and to celebrate Easter we will be hosting an Easter Raffle. All children will get a treat on the day!
17th May First Holy Communion: The boys and girls in second class are busily preparing for their First Holy Communion with their teacher Ms O’Connell. The Communion will take place on Saturday,17th of May. We wish them lots of luck on their special day and we look forward to seeing them all with their families after the Church for refreshments in the School Halla, hosted by the Parents Association.
Information night for the Parents of the new Junior Infants Class of 2014: Parents of the new Juniors infants starting next September 2014 are invited to an open night in the School. Date to be advised. We look forward to welcoming all the boys and girls to Shanbally National School. Teas and coffees will be provided by the PA on the night.
Thursday 19th June at 7.30pm: 6th Class Leaving Night: The PA will be hosting the annual 6th class leaving night in June. Nibbles, drinks, teas & coffees are provided for the parents on the night. The children will enjoy sharing their memories of Shanbally NS in what is always an emotional but fabulous evening. Treats & soft drinks will be provided for the boys and girls.
June Disco: We are hoping to host another Children’s end of year Disco in June as we did last year. It is a lovely event for all of the children as a farewell to the end of the school year. The date and venue are yet to be confirmed, details to follow!
We look forward to celebrating and participating in the above with you all. Make sure to pencil the dates into your calendars J.
Best Wishes,
