April 14th 2015
Welcome back to the Third term. I hope you had an enjoyable Easter and managed to enjoy some of the fine weather. As you may be aware, we have been planning and working on ways to celebrate the Shanbally NS relocation to our present site which happened 50 years ago in May 1965.
- One such venture is the compilation of a history of Shanbally NS over the last 50 years. Tremendous credit is due to former principal, Liam Shanahan, who has invested huge energy and effort into this project. Therefore, we are delighted to invite you to the official launch of both the book and our golf classic next Friday night, April 17th, in Monkstown Golf Club at 8.30pm. The book will be officially launched by musician John Spillane who has worked recently with our 6th Class pupils on a different project over the past few months. John will play some songs on the night. Musical entertainment will also be provided by Noel Murphy. The Shanbally NS Golf Classic is organised for Friday 8th Finger food will be supplied by Debbie Field. We need to be able to give an estimate of numbers expected on the night so please email Ruth at office@shanballyns.ie or ring the office to indicate your intention to attend.
- Our launch becomes more poignant as I announce the recent decision of our Vice Principal Anne-Marie Barry to retire at the end of August this year. Anne-Marie has taught in Shanbally since September 1977 and has provided incredible service over the past 38 years. No doubt we will mark Anne-Marie’s retirement properly in the months ahead. For now, suffice to say, Anne-Marie will be missed greatly but we wish her and Sean a long, happy and active retirement together.
- Golf Classic 2015: Our Golf Classic is set for Friday 8th May in Monkstown Golf Club. These are the ways you can get involved to help us reach our target.
