- Bazaar A warm congratulations to the Parents Association on their recent Christmas Bazaar which
ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all. A huge thank you to Pfizer’s for the use of their Hall and a thank you to all our sponsors, parents who attended, staff who coordinated crafts and the children themselves. They raised in excess of €2,500. Well done to all involved.
- West Midlands Theatre Children from First to Sixth classes enjoyed a production of Jack and the Beanstalk last
week, courtesy of sponsorship by the Shanbally NS Parent’s Association.
- Hallelujah Choir On last Saturday Shanbally NS took part in the Hallelujah Choir Festival which took place in
the City West Hotel in Dublin. School choirs from all over Ireland took part, over 3,000 children. Thank you to our Parents Association who completely funded the transport and children’s meal on the day. I am grateful to Second Class teacher and Choir Coordinator, Claire O’Connell, for the Trojan work she did with the children prior to and on the day of the concert. Mary O’Reilly and Pat McCann also played a significant role in their preparation. Special guests performed on the day and the children greatly enjoyed the thrilling experience of performing on such a stage.
- Please find attached a copy of an engineer’s report which outlines some concerns we hold with regard to the N28 proposed road changes. As indicated at our last meeting, Tuesday December 3rd, these details may be used when writing to lodge our objections to The Administrative Officer, Cork County Council, National Roads Office, Richmond, Glanmire, Co. Cork. on or before 5pm on Monday 13th January, 2014. I’d like to acknowledge the tremendous turnout by Shanbally NS parents and staff at the most recent meeting. However, as expressed on the night, it is VITAL that we have an even bigger attendance again next Monday night (16th) when meeting the Minister and TDS to demonstrate the depth of feeling and the level of opposition in the school to the plans.
Thank you,
David Nolan
