Dear Parents,
Sincere thanks for your attendance at our PA AGM on October 2nd. The PA and I had a follow-up planning meeting last Monday night. Details of items discussed and planned will be circulated by the PA over the next few days.
School Uniform
I am most grateful for the valuable and insightful feedback from our School Uniform Questionnaire. We have acted immediately to address the issues raised. I met with James Fitzgerald (Schools Direct) Monday last. A delegation from the PA and I are meeting Schools Direct again tomorrow morning. We have a number of strong concerns/proposals that we want dealt with without delay. I intend to write to you again tomorrow to keep everyone informed of proceedings.
Shanbally NS Walk Saturday October 12th 2.30pm in aid of The Children’s Ward, CUH.
A reminder that this most worthwhile fundraiser takes place on Saturday from Shanbally School at 2.30pm. We intend to gather at school from 2.15pm. Following the traditional route of the Terry Fox Walk, we expect the walk to take about an hour to complete. May I take this opportunity to assure you that all family members –parents, grandparents etc. are welcome to come along to show support for this fundraiser, it’s not just for our school children. I respectfully ask that all children are supervised at all times to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment. The PA will provide basic refreshments for those walking e.g. water and popcorn. Sincere thanks for all the efforts into fundraising which no doubt will hugely benefit our local young patients and their parents going forward in their times of need.
Red & White Day this Friday.
All in Shanbally NS are thrilled to welcome Juliet Murphy (of the victorious All-Ireland champions Cork Ladies Football Team) and the Brendan Martin Cup to our school at 11am sharp this Friday. Juliet is truly a living legend and arguably the finest ladies footballer ever. She is the proud holder of eight All-Ireland titles with Cork, captaining them in 2005-2007. We will send home tomorrow an account of Juliet’s career to allow pupils grasp the significance of her visit. We ask all pupils to dress up in red & white to show our support for their wonderful achievement of eight titles in nine years. We will be appearing in the Evening Echo so let’s give Juliet the best rebel welcome possible. Representatives from Shamrocks GAA/Ladies Football are invited and we will make a presentation to Juliet to mark her visit.
Sciath na Scol
Well done to our boys and girls teams who won their four games yesterday. Thanks again to all our parents who were able to drive and support the teams. We have a double fixture again tomorrow so best wishes to all. I wish to express our sincere gratitude to teachers Paddy Clifford, Sinead Ni Loingsigh, Aideen O’Mahony and Sandra Moran who train the teams and to all the staff for facilitating such activities.
