Dear Parents, Just a reminder of some upcoming events and points of interest.
- Thanks to all for supporting our annual Christmas Bazaar which takes place this Sunday, November 25th in the Pfizer’s Sports Club at 2pm. We are most grateful for the wonderful donations and vouchers which we have received all week for the event. It promises to be a fun-filled event and as it’s my first as Principal, I’m eagerly looking forward to it.
Hopefully, proceeds from the Bazaar will go towards IT development in the school. Please note that parking is available by Pfizer’s Soccer Pitches, which may alleviate traffic build-up on the approach to the Sports Club. The P.A. have kindly asked that as per tradition, all baking for the event may be dropped to the Sports Club from 9.15 am on Sunday.
I hope everyone has a great time and wish you luck in the fantastic raffle which also takes place.
- We had a wonderful response to our recent Shoebox Appeal, which resulted in a large box collection last Monday. We genuinely appreciate the lengths Shanbally NS parents go to in supporting such causes. I would feel that it’s also a vital aspect of our pupils’ social development and appreciation of others less fortunate. Thanks to Miss Cunningham for organising and you for supporting it.
- Our Third Class Girls and Boys take part in their respective Gaelic Football Indoor Blitz today and Monday in Riverstick. Good luck and Beir Bua! Thanks again to all our staff who selflessly give of their time to promote games and sport in the school.
- A reminder of our Parent-Teacher Meetings this coming Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th.Please note that school will close at 12.30/12.45 on both days to facilitate these meetings.
- It was great to see so many of our students take part in the Shamrocks GAA sponsored walk/run last Saturday. Congratulations to Mr. Clifford for successfully defending his road race title!!
- We are delighted with the numbers starting guitar lessons after school with Mr. Kieran Curtin (086-8844941). An incredible donation from a parent who wishes to remain anonymous, means that we have now purchased 12 guitars for the school, which will be loaned out (for a €10 deposit) to students to practice at home. On that “note” if any families have guitars lying unused at home, gathering dust, we would be thrilled to accept a donation of those guitars to use here.
- Finally on the reverse we have details of a free download for pupils to develop their Maths Skills. It may take some of the drudgery out of learning tables. Thanks Mrs. Tuohy for sharing this information.
