The boys and girls in 4th Class wrote essays about their experiences in the recent show, “Cinderella with A Twist”. You can read some of their stories here….
“Cinderella with a Twist”
It all started back in September . The very first lesson with Louise was a bit crazy but it calmed down after a while. The weeks and months flew by and, when it got to December everyone was extremely nervous and excited at the same time.
I was Cinderella for the Wednesday matinee and the Thursday night. Claire was also Cinderella and she was on the Wednesday night show. In all the shows the audience could not stop laughing. I think they though that it was a comedy show, but it really was Cinderella with a twist.
I really was over the moon with my performance and so was everyone else. I think it was one of the best plays ever and I hope to do more acting in the future.

This year Louise O’ Sullivan a music & drama teacher taught us a play called Cinderella with a twist. She taught us more and more every Tuesday. Finally, after loads of practice, we went to the Ringaskiddy Community hall and did a dress rehearsal. The chorus wore black. The ugly step sisters wore dresses and Cinderella wore an apron and a torn up dress.
Finally our big moment came. It was our time to shine. I was so excited. The curtains opened and we started to sing and dance. When it was over my mom collected me from the hall. She was so proud of me. My day could not have gone any better. By Conor

On the 13th September Louise came to our school to direct a play. First of all we needed actors and actresses A lot people tried out but only a couple got a major part. We started preparing in the Halla every Tuesday for about 5 weeks and than we moved to the Ringaskiddy hall. We practised for about 12 hours in total and it was difficult.
While we were practicing there were a few mistakes, but we all pulled it to together at the last moment. On Wednesday morning we were all buzzing with excitement. The bus came to bring us to Ringaskiddy hall. Everything went smoothly throughout the play. I was very nervous because I never learned the “Jam man” song and it was our last song .
I enjoyed every performance. It was great fun. I hope we can do it again !! By David

This year we had a school play. Louise prepared us for it and she came around every Tuesday to teach us songs and actions. Then one day she said to us “would anyone like to audition for the main parts?” Loads of people said yes so most of the people sang songs or said poems. A couple of weeks after that we found out who had the main parts. Heather and Claire played the parts of Cinderella David in 6th and Daniel in 5th played the parts of the prince, Dylan, Fionn, Ben and Mark were the ugly step sisters and Luke and Tadgh were playing the parts of the Jam man and finally Ali, Jessie, Rachael ,Ciara , Anne , Eve and I were the dancers and the rest of us were the chorus. We practised and practised for weeks in the Halla until she said “its only a couple of days away so we are going down to Ringaskiddy Hall tomorrow. It went well, as planned. The next day was the matinee and the evening show they went really well. Then the final show came. Robert’s dad took pictures and Mr.Clifford took the video. My class and I were very proud of our performance.

It all started around September when Louise told the class that we were doing a play! She came to us every Tuesday and taught us songs like “Midnight Tango” and “Transformation”. Soon after that we got the parts. Heather and Claire were Cinderellas! Dylan, Ben, Mark and Fionnwere ugly sisters and David and Daniel were princes! Everybody else was in the chorus .
Then the big day came: Wednesday the 14th of December!!! The audience was massive and Every one was exited, it was amazing. We started of with “A slave to household grease and grime” Then we got ready for “Transformation”. Our class skipped and sang up the aisle and it was brilliant!!!
After that we went backstage to sing “Midnight Tango” and “Smelly Feet Blues” but then the best part came- The Finale “Jam Man”. All of the classes sang really well for that song and every other song! It was one of the best experiences ever and I was pleased to take part!!!! By Kevin

The play I was in “Cinderella with a Twist”was a great experience. Dylan was one of the Ugly sisters and Sean and Niamh were the rats. Clare and Heather were the Cinderellas and I was a cleaning prop and the others were the chorus.
My granny, granddad, mum, dad and Noah thought it was fantastic. Now it was our time to shine. At the start Ali, Claire and 4th and 5th Classes were on the stage. Atthe end we sang the “Jam mam song”. When the show was over we got a huge round of applause and I felt like an actor.

Since September my class and I have been practicing very well for our play “Cinderella with a Twist.” It has been hard and tiring, but it has all paid off. There were lots of actors but I have to say the ugly sisters were my favourite of all. They were very funny and dramatic. The shows were on at Wednesday and Thursday. We were all very nervous .The person that helped us was named Louise. She helped us very well because the parts were fantastic. We all had to wear black clothes. Then when we put on our black clothes we were ready to act and it was time to perform .We danced and sang. Unfortunately it was all over very quickly. Mr. Shanahan gave a loud, clear, respectful speech. He included everyone that was involved in the play. We all had a great experience BY CARL

On the 14th and 15th of December the classes from 2nd to 6th preformed a play called “Cinderella with a twist”. We had practised for a very long time and finally the big nights arrived. It was very exciting .I had so much fun. The audience enjoyed it as well. Louise O Sullivan put it all together. Two girls in my class were Cinderella. I was part of the chorus. We all had to wear black.
The show took place in Ringaskiddy Community Hall. There was a matinee show on Wednesday and the nights shows were on Wednesday and Thursday.
My family went to see it on Wednesday night. They thought it was absolutely excellent. They said we were practising for a long time but it was well worth it.
When the show was over the audience gave a big round of applause. I had a wonderful time. By Liadh H

It was just a normal day at school. We were reading our books and then a lady named Louise came in and said “I am your drama teacher and we are going to do a play called Cinderella”. We all gasped and gulped and we all couldn’t believe our eyes. Then she said ”you didn’t hear the rest of it !! It will be “Cinderella with a Twist”. We will wear black and it will be on the 13th and 14th of December”. When I heard it will be on 14th I knew it would have been on my birthday. She came in every Tuesday and we practiced songs. Then we got to go to Ringaskiddy hall. Dylan, Mark , Ben and Fionn were the ugly sisters. Tadhg and Luke were the Jam Men and Claire and Heather were Cinderella. Jake and Ali were the cleaning props. When the day came there were lots of people in the audience. At the end of the show Mrs Tuohy announced that it was my birthday in front of everyone. It was the best birthday ever.

It all started in September when a woman called Louise came in and told us that we would be doing a school play. We all were very excited. That day we also learned our first song. It was called “The Midnight Tango”. The next Tuesday we did our auditions . Most of the class sang a song or said a poem and Jake, Niamh, Claire, Heather and I had solo parts. Not long after we moved into the halla, where we practiced for a few weeks. After that we practiced in Ringaskiddy Community Centre.
Finally the big moment arrived. We were all really excited and some of us were a little nervous. We were all waiting in the Green Room for the show to begin. Eventually the curtains opened. First we sang a song and then Niamh and I went backstage. We put on our “Rat Masks” and then went back out on the stage. I was nervous and excited at the same time.
It was a great experience and I would like to do it again.
