SHANBALLY NS 5-03

LITTLE ISLAND 1-03

Shanbally proved too strong for Little Island at Pairc Ui Rinn on the 10th of November in a thrilling clash to decide the Sciath Na Scol F8 title. An early goal from half forward Daniel Carroll gave Shanbally a great boost and further goals from Stephen Fox and Andrew O’ Grady gave them the edge in the first half.

In the second half a pointed free from Kevin Cody and two more points from Robert O’ Connor and Adam Horgan started Little Island’s comeback. A great chipped goal from Horgan brought them within touching distance but Shanbally’s defence stood strong with great defending from captain, Cormac Scriven, Declan Maye, Kyle McCarthy, Eoin Horgan and Joe Golden. However, when Stephen Fox found himself through on goal from a Mark Hitchmough pass there was no stopping him from netting his second goal. A final goal from Joseph O’ Keefe finished off Little Island.  Substitute James Lynam then came on to score a magnificent point which wrapped the game up. In the dying  seconds of the game,  Adam Horgan pulled a great save from Shanbally’s goalkeeper Adam O’ Donovan. When the final whistle blew, there were great celebrations from the Shanbally party.
