Dear Parents,

Welcome back after the Summer Break, and a particular welcome to the Parents and children of Junior Infants. We would also like to welcome Claire O’Connell who now joins our team as Junior Infant teacher. We would like to wish the best of luck to Claire. We are also fortunate in that we have been able to retain Aideen O’Mahony for 3 class. Best of luck also to Aideen.

A hectic summer.
We were very busy again this summer with an additional portakabin commissioned for 5 class. My new office is also located there. Extensive underpinning was carried out all around the perimeter of the school building with pipework replaced which had perished and caused water damage to the foundations. We also had remedial work carried out in the toilets of the main building and the girls toilet in particular. If you are around you might like to view the completed renovations which were carried out by O’Donovan Heating & Bathroom Solutions who did an excellent job. They also put non-slip flooring in the boys’ toilets of the main building.

Parking: (before and after school).

In the mornings, school opens at 8.35 am – and it would help if everybody did not arrive at 8.45 – 8.50 am!! Supervision is only available from 8.35am and we would appreciate from a safety and insurance stand point if children were not left unsupervised by parents before this time.

  • When you enter the car-park, park in spaces on the far side first. If you are jut dropping older children off, please pull in to allow other cars to pass you or to allow other cars to enter the car-park and keep the road clear. At all times consider the safety of your and other children.
  • Please do not block the exits either!
  • Please be careful of children all around you.
  • Do not park across the road from the School’s main gate. Residents’ Group especially asks not to park on grass verges.
  • Please try car-pooling.
  • After school it might help if some parents of older children arrived 10 to 15 minutes after 2.30 when the parking may have eased.

  • Parents should be vigilant for their children’s safety if they are crossing to the shop after school. This is a highly dangerous crossing.

  • Parents, please refrain from letting younger children free rein in the school grounds around collection times as there are classes on-going and it can be disruptive. My new office, which has been relocated to the new portakabin, is now closer to the front of the school property and I have found the noise of children running around very distracting.

  • Staff – Meetings occur, two per Term. Our first one occurs on Friday September. The school will close at 12.30 for Senior Infants (and siblings from older classes) and 12.45 for the rest of the school. Junior Infants will still be coming out at 12 noon. A more comprehensive newsletter will issue following this staff meeting.

  • Remember:

School uniforms – Monday and Tuesday for Junior & Senior Infants and School Tracksuits – Wednesday to Friday
School Uniforms – Monday to Wednesday for
1 to 6 Classes
and School Tracksuits – Thursday and Friday

  • The School Tie is an important part, and the finishing touch of a School Uniform.

Absolutely no runners or white shoes with School Uniform.
It is
essential to put names on school jumpers/tracksuit tops and jackets. Spot checks will be made during the year.

  • After-school training- please wear school uniform if a uniform day and bring training gear to change into.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
Bail ó Dhia ar an obair (God Bless the work)

Is mise le meas
