Policies and Plans
The preparation and updating of The School Plan was first made a statutory requirement under the Education Act (1998). Shanbally NS School Plan is a collaborative process. Schools exist for pupils and therefore the central focus of School Development Planning is Learning. Consultation, communication and collaboration are critical elements in the process. Shared decision-making becomes the order of the day. Parents, as the primary educators of pupils, are invited to have a role in the process.
The Board of Management has the responsibility of ensuring that the school plan is prepared, reviewed and regularly updated. Policy development is an integral part of school planning.
All partners in education are invited to participate in the development of the school plan and in the development of school policy. There are two areas of Policy Development - Organisational and Curricular.
The following pages contain a small selection of the policies of our school. The full range of Curricular and Organisational Policies can be viewed, upon request to the Principal, by the parents of the Shanbally NS pupils.
