Motto and School Crest

About Our School

Motto: "Nach deas a bheith Óg"
(Isn't it nice to be young!)

Historical:

St Carthage and St Bracken are associated with the
town-land of Shanbally dating back to the early
Christian times. During this time the first Irish
books were produced. One of these which partially
survived the ravages of time is "The Cathach"
(a copy of the Psalms).

Symbolic:

In our Crest we have used one of its capital letters as a symbol
linking early Christian times, the first millennium,
with our present day. We have included a child's hand
holding a 'peann luaidhe' which symbolises our confidence and
hope looking forward to the future of Scoil Náisiúnta Seanbhaile.
