Pre Easter Newsletter

Dear parents,

At the end of Seachtain na Gaeilge a bhí ar fheabhas here in Shanbally NS we’d like to wish you all a very happy St. Patrick’s weekend and we’ll see you all back in school on Tuesday 20th March. A huge thank you to the pupils of 6th class who led and engaged with the other classes to promote Irish through fun and games, not to mention our wonderful Ceolchoirm today directed by Miss Moran, Miss Callanan and supported by the rest of the staff. It was one of the highlights of the school year so far.

Just a few small things to note:

  • If you’d like to support the Cork Children’s Easter Egg Appeal, which is in its 8th  year, you can drop some small Easter Eggs (the 3 for €5 ones!) in to the school and they will be passed on. The Middleton family (with children in the school) run this annually and it’s a lovely cause to support as it involves them distributing Easter Eggs to children’s wards at Cork and Dublin Children’s hospitals, and other places including  Cope Foundation, the Cork Deaf Association, Enable Ireland, Lota, St. Gabriel’s Special School, Sonas Special School, Shine Special School, Edel House, The John Birmingham Centre, and Rebel Wheelers.
  • Thank you to everyone who has downloaded our App and who is now availing of communications through it. This will save on text charges incurred by the school if everyone signs up for it. To date nearly 50% of our families have done so. We’d encourage who can download it to do so.
  • A reminder that swimming for 3rd and 4th will be starting straight after Easter (Monday 9th) and a note will be going home next week with regards to this.
  • Another reminder that we finish at 11.45 (Juniors/Seniors & siblings)and 12 (rest of school) next Friday for Easter holidays.
  • Confirmation received from the FAI that the 6th class Boys soccer qualifier has been postponed from next Thursday to Wednesday April 11th instead. Arrangements will be made and forwarded to you as soon as we get them.

Thank you.
