Dear Parents,

It’s been a busy few weeks after our extended Easter break. Following are important points to note.

  • I will be on leave for the next while due to a hip replacement scheduled tomorrow. Depending on how the surgery goes and my recovery, I hope to be back in school before the end of the school year. In my absence, Deputy Principal Claire O’Connell will become acting principal. Therefore from next Monday April 18th Ms. Máire O’Driscoll will be taking 4th class for the next few weeks. To ensure continuity, Claire will assist Máire in the planning of class work etc. Claire is contactable through the office at 4378178 if needed. We’ve done a lot of planning and preparation at/since our last staff meeting and I am confident, given the professionalism of our staff, that all will run smoothly in my absence.

  • Book Fair arrives on Tuesday and will open to the school from Wednesday 20th April. All classes are scheduled to attend the Book Fair during each day. You should have received a booklet home with the books that will be featured there. There is no obligation to buy. We appreciate that it is an expensive time of year for all. Children can bring in money to purchase books if they like. Any monies raised will generate credit for the school to supplement class libraries and novels. Thanks as always to Ms. Moran and Sixth Class who do a great job running it.
  • Our recent Proclamation Day events and ceremony was a wonderful testament to the children and staff involved. Sixth Class, under the direction of Ms. Moran, coordinated the Céilí and music which followed our flag-raising event. If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, Mrs. Tuohy has put a YouTube video up on-line capturing images from the occasion.

  • I would like to thank those parents who have submitted the annual Family Contribution of €60 and gently remind others to submit it if they can.
  • We have had enquiries with regard to spaces/availability for the coming school year. In certain classes there are limited places available. Interested families should contact the school at 4378178.

Best wishes to all as we head towards our busiest and most exciting term! I look forward to seeing everyone on my return.

Is mise le meas,

David Nolan
